The "Block" semi-rigid case is a customized case. To prepare this we need a drawing of your instrument as well as some meassurements. Usually it takes us one or two weeks to manufacture the case - after we got all the details needed. The base cunstruction is made from polystyrene - light, protective and insulating. This is padded with foam and covered with a black velvet-style fabric. The Block also provides a special holder for the bow. There's a seperate pocket on the outside for a second bow or resin. The bag itself is made from a sturdy rucksack material and comes with backpack and shoulder straps.
The block semi-rigid case provides a good protection for your nyckelharpa. Top and bottom of the bag have inlays and are padded. So your nyckelharpa is protected from all sides.
The Block - is it a semi-rigid case or already a hard case? At least weighs about 3kgs and is lighter than a hard case.
The idea is simple: We cut the shape of your nyckelharpa out of a solid block of polystyrene - padded with foam and covered with fabric. Top and bottom have inlays. As soon as the "block" is closed, these inlays lay flat on the block so the instrument - and the bridge of course - are protected against pressure. For better protection of the bottom we offer inlays in 3mm thin timberboard for a small extra. It's also poosible to add some extra inlay in the top.
